WhatsApp Request Review Not Showing: What It Means
If WhatsApp banned your account but the in-app Request a Review button is nowhere to be seen, here is what is actually happening and what you can do instead.

Short answer
The Request a Review button only appears for certain ban types. If you don’t see it, your account is most likely in a temporary state (wait the timer out) or in a hard ban state (you need to contact WhatsApp support directly by email). Neither situation is improved by reinstalling the app.
Why the button might be missing
- Temporary ban with a countdown. WhatsApp expects the ban to lift on its own, so it shows a timer instead of a review option.
- Permanent / hard ban. The system decided the violation is severe enough that the automated review flow is skipped. You can still appeal — just not through the in-app button.
- Region or version differences. Sometimes the button rolls out at different times in different regions, especially on iOS vs Android.
- WhatsApp Business / API account. Business accounts use a different appeal flow via Business Manager rather than the in-app Request a Review button.
- Unofficial WhatsApp app. If you are still on GB / YO / FM WhatsApp, you may not see the official ban screen at all — install the official WhatsApp to even see your real options.
What to do before assuming the button is "missing"
- Make sure you’re on the official WhatsApp. Install WhatsApp from the official site, Google Play Store, or Apple App Store. Uninstall any GB / YO / FM build.
- Reopen WhatsApp on the same number. Don’t change SIM or device — the ban is tied to the number.
- Scroll the ban screen. On some screens the Request Review button is below the fold or behind a "Need help?" / "Support" link.
- Update the app. Older versions sometimes hide the button on certain devices.
- Wait if you see a countdown. Temporary bans clear automatically.
Appealing without the Request Review button
You can still appeal — you just need to email WhatsApp support directly. Send a message to
support@whatsapp.com from the email you use with WhatsApp. Keep it short and polite.
A safe template:
Subject: Request to review my banned WhatsApp account (+91 9XXXXXXXXX)
Hello WhatsApp Support,
My WhatsApp account on the phone number +91 9XXXXXXXXX was banned, and I do not see a Request a Review option in the app. I would like to request a manual review.
I use WhatsApp to communicate with my family and contacts, and I did not intend to violate WhatsApp’s Terms of Service. I will follow WhatsApp’s rules and avoid any activity that may be considered spam or unsafe.
Thank you for your time and support. You can generate longer or more formal versions in our free appeal generator. For business accounts, use the Business Appeal Generator instead, which also creates an evidence checklist.
Specific support contacts
- Personal accounts:
support@whatsapp.com. Include your number in international format. - WhatsApp Business App (small business):
smb_web@support.whatsapp.com. - WhatsApp Business Platform / API: contact your Business Solution Provider (BSP) first, then file a case in the Meta Business Help Center.
What not to do
- Don’t send the same email multiple times — duplicates slow the review.
- Don’t install unofficial WhatsApp; it removes whatever appeal path you still had.
- Don’t pay any "WhatsApp unban service" — they cannot deliver.
- Don’t share your 6-digit verification code with anyone, even people claiming to be WhatsApp staff.
If WhatsApp doesn’t reply
Reviews can take hours or days. If a week passes with no response and you’re sure you used the right support address:
- Reply on the same email thread (don’t start a new one).
- For Business accounts, escalate via Meta Business Help Center.
- Stay calm in tone — angry messages typically receive boilerplate responses.

Frequently asked questions
Does every banned account get a Request Review button?
No. The button appears only for certain ban types — typically restricted accounts that WhatsApp considers reviewable. Hard / permanent bans, repeated violations, and some regions may not show it.
I see "Try again later" but no Request Review. Why?
That usually means your account is in a temporary ban or in a cooldown phase. Wait for the countdown to end, then check again. If the button still doesn’t appear, you can email WhatsApp support directly.
Can I appeal without the Request Review button?
Yes. Email support@whatsapp.com from the email you have used with WhatsApp. Include your phone number in international format (e.g. +91…), a short and honest explanation, and a clear request to review the account.
Will reinstalling WhatsApp make the Request Review button appear?
Not reliably. The button is decided server-side based on your ban type. Reinstalling does not change that. Make sure you are using the official WhatsApp, not GB / YO / FM WhatsApp, before contacting support.
Should I create a new WhatsApp account on another number?
Not as a workaround. If your number is banned, use it. Re-registering on a different number purely to escape a ban is against WhatsApp’s Terms and the new number is likely to be banned too.
